Trademarks that are similar or identical to an already registered trademark can be rejected by DJKI. Checking the database first saves registration costs and time. In addition, a trademark that is not registered promptly can be taken by someone else who registers it first.
How long does trademark registration at DJKI take?+
The normal trademark registration process at DJKI takes 6 to 14 months, depending on the substantive examination queue. If there are objections or data corrections, the process can take longer. An expedited (priority) track is available that can shorten the examination time, but at a higher cost. That is why the sooner you register, the better, especially before your brand becomes publicly known.
